In mid- October the officer team and a selected few other students along with Mr. Speth and Mr. Henningfeld attended the FFA National Convention held in Indianapolis, IN. While attending the convention everyone was able to walk through a career/ college fair to learn about different opportunities, mostly circled around agriculture, that there are to choose from and the colleges that offer degrees in those fields of study. Seminars were also attended to gain knowledge on specific animals or fields of agriculture or leadership. Guest speakers, such as Mike Rowe, jump started many days at the convention with inspirational speeches including how to be a leader and how to “fail successfully”. The group also was able to attend a Toby Keith concert and a Bulls and Broncs Rodeo. The trip was a success in teaching the students how to use the opportunities given to them to the maximum and gave them ideas on how the DDHS FFA chapter could run more efficiently.
