The DDHS FFA hosts Food for America at a local dairy farm owned and ran by the Keizer family. This year it was a beautiful April day when the FFA invited the 4th graders from surrounding school to attend a fun day “down on the farm”. Some of the FFA members brought their own animals to the farm and gave the students a quick speech about how to care for their animal, what it may eat, what the end results may come of the animal, and answered any questions that may have about their specific animal. Others described how farm equipment worked, what kind of feed animals ate, and areas of the dairy farm and what they were used for. The rest of the FFA members led a small group of students around to the different stations and tried to answer any of their questions. All in all, the 4th grade students gained information about agriculture and the FFA members walked away with more leadership experience than they know.
